You Get A Blog Post! And You Get A Blog Post!

Whether you're a fine artist, musician, or anybody in between, if you've been thinking about ways to reach a wider audience, writing blog posts is a great way to do it! Not only will creating content help people learn more about what you do and why you do it, but it can also be a fun and creative way to express yourself. Ready to get started? Here are four tips for creating content that's sure to please your fans (and maybe even win you some new ones).

1. Keep It Relevant

When you sit down to write a blog post, make sure that the topic is relevant to your art form. For example, if you're a painter, you might write about the techniques and mediums you use, or how your work is inspired by the world around you. If you're a musician, you could write about the process of creating an album, or share some background stories on your favorite songs. The sky's the limit! Just make sure that whatever topic you choose is one that will resonate with your existing fans, and pique the interest of any new ones.

2. Make It Visual

People love pretty things, so make sure your blog post is easy on the eyes. In addition to using helpful headings and subheadings (more on that in a minute), be sure to include images, videos, or other visuals that help illustrate your point. And when it comes to choosing photos or videos, don't be afraid to get creative! If you're a visual artist, for instance, you could include images of your work alongside each section of text. Or if you're a musician, embed streaming links to your music throughout the post.

3. Use Helpful Headings & Subheadings

No one likes huge walls of text (except maybe lawyers), so use headings and subheadings to break up your text and make it more readable. Not only will this help keep your readers' attention focused on what you're saying, but it will also make skimming easier for those who just want the highlights. When creating headings and subheadings, try to use keywords that accurately describe the content below them; not only will this help Search Engine Optimization (SEO—more on that later), but it will also give readers a better idea of what they can expect before they even start reading.

4. proofread & edit!

This one should go without saying—before hitting "publish" on any piece of writing, be sure to proofread and edit it first! Even if English isn't your first language (it isn't mine either), there are tons of free grammar checkers online that can help catch any mistakes you may have missed. Once your blog post is polished and ready for prime time, hit that "publish" button and watch as your masterpiece goes out into the world!

Creating content is a great way to reach new audiences and connect with existing fans. By following these four simple tips—keeping it relevant, making it visual, using helpful headings and subheadings, and proofreading & editing—you'll be well on your way to writing blog posts that people will actually want to read. So what are you waiting for? Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and get writing!
